Acute pelvic trauma can be life-threatening and requires rapid decision-making to control hemorrhage and restore stability. In this case-based discussion, Fabian Stuby and Tobias Fritz present a practical damage control approach for managing unstable pelvic ring injuries in patients in extremis. Using a cadaveric specimen, they demonstrate the indications, application, and biomechanical principles of the pelvic C-clamp, as well as the role of extraperitoneal pelvic packing in hemorrhage control. The faculty highlight key technical considerations, reduction strategies, and common pitfalls to avoid. This session provides valuable insights for trauma and orthopedic surgeons involved in the acute management of severe pelvic injuries.
